Growing Flavours – Recipes from European cooking


Within the last 5 years, european exchange projects, funded by erasmus+, became a major part of Ideen³ e.V. and a Team from Netherlands, Greek and Romania are real heros in hosting those events, mostly around Bremen. This years European youth exchange “Growing Flavours” was created with focus on stimulating creativity, community-building, communication and responsibility in young people through the methods of researching, cooking and promoting traditional vegetarian recipes, sustainable food and ingredients, and the cultural roots of each country’s cuisine.

European Network

The project brought together 35 young people between 18-30 and 7 group leaders from 7 different countries in Germany for 11 days. The participating countries were Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, Georgia, Romania, Serbia and Spain and the participants, who had a keen interest in cooking as a method and a passion for exploring the origins of dishes, took part in two Events:

Christian and Johanna, our experienced facilitators and projectmanagers.
  • Preparatory Visit (PV), which happened from the 30th of April to the 3rd of May (including travel days), in NaturKultur, Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Germany. This activity included 7 group Leaders and 1 facilitator
  • Youth Exchange (YE), which happened from the 15th to the 27th of July (including travel days), in the same location, This activity included 35 participants, 7 group leaders and 2 facilitators

Recipe Book

Most essential to our participants where the people and friends from around yourope, we shared the 10 days with. But, for all not beeing able to particpate, here are some results to share, first of all, our book of recipes:

This publication is a collection of tastes from different countries. Recipes presented here are meatless event though in their original from they usually consist meat. For some of us it was new too… But new doesn’t mean worse. Different doesen’t mean bad. It’s all part of the process.

Further results

  • Participants organized 7 local actions in national groups, sharing the results and learnings of the project with their local communities.
  • 100% of participants received the Youth Pass certificate, which serves a formal acknowledgement of their learnings and increases employability.
